On the eve of Four Twenty, as the sun began to set, shining her neon glow over the faces of our enlightened guests, we reveled at the moment where space and time stood still. The absolute freedom to enjoy, share, create, inspire and be free from stigma and social obligation melted away as we danced (yes, L.A. DANCED), delighted, and dreamed.
New friends felt like family and old friends became new again all with one thing in common, respect for the sweet green. Set in a backyard garden Martha Stewart would have approved of, our guests enjoyed CBD infused cocktails, Whispering Angel rose and Oysters while casually enjoying 24kt gold shine papers, filled from the delicious flower of Paradiso Gardens.
As the guests filled the space, some flocked to the garden and others enjoyed a cocktail in our den where Kubrick’s Space Odyssey lit the screen, and HAL’s last words rang truer than ever “I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. Dai-sy, Dai-sy, give me your answer true. I’m half cra-zy o-ver the love of you”.
Devendra Banhart set the tone with a sexy mix of disco, funk, and soul before our founder Lola Langusta and friends, Leslie Kirchoff, Bettie Blue and Voomz took you on a trip around the world inside a giant disco ball of pure bliss.
LA’s sweetest, kindest and finest graced our danced floors while musicians, artists, actors and photographers mingled in what felt more like a house party fit for Hollywoods glamorous. The ghost of Halston was even said to be seen mingling with our guests. Some familiar faces in attendance included the likes of actor Emile Hirsch, producer Diplo, Mary Jane Gibson of High Times, Natalie and Eliot Bergman of Wild Belle, David Tran founder of Dope magazine, KCRW’s Mathieu Schreyer, artist Love Watts, photographer/actress Carly Foulkes, actress/artist Kiana Lede, and cast MTV’s Scream Amadeus Serafini, Bex Taylor-Klaus and Tom Maden.
